Sandboarding is a sport practiced on sand dunes with a sufficient inclination to make the sandboard slide downhill. When practiced professionally, the sport is very similar to snowboarding.
Currently there are several communities of sandboarders around the world developing and disseminating the sport. Amongst those communities are Peru with the biggest and highest sand dunes of the world, Duna Cerro Blanco, Duna Cerro Marcha and Duna Toro Mata, Chile with the great Duna Medanoso (Copiapó) and Duna Cerro Dragon (Iquique) and Brazil which, despite its highest dune being only 80 m high, is considered home of the world’s best sandboarders.
