Sandboarding is a sport practiced on sand dunes with a sufficient inclination to make the sandboard slide downwards. When practiced professionally, the sport is similar to snowboarding.
Currently, there are several communities of sandboarders around the world that develop and spread this sport. These communities mainly include South America, where Peru has the largest and highest sand dunes in the world, Duna Cerro Blanco, Duna Cerro Marcha and Duna Toro Mata, Chile has the great Duna Medanoso (Copiapo) and Duna Cerro Dragon (Iquique) and Brazil, despite its highest dune, with only 80 feet high, is considered home to the best sandboarders in the world.
